Together we dive into the abstract paintings of Robert Motherwell. We take a look at his favourite colours and the meaning behind them. Through art we create a connection between painting and our feelings as well as being with each other. In the end, we become artists ourselves and create an abstract work together by freeing ourselves from motifs and letting our feelings guide us.

Is a painting a representation? Does it represent reality or does it originate from our imagination? For the American artist Robert Motherwell, a painting is an interaction between artist, form and colour. His monumental paintings, which he produces in series of works, are abstract, full of emotions and references. Curious, we approach the large-scale works, look closely, feel inside and let ourselves be inspired. 
After a creative (writing) action in the exhibition, we approach abstraction in a creative way in the studio.

The art works of American painter Robert Motherwell reflect the human psyche as well as the mystical dimension of being. We explore his breathtaking large formats and first experience ourselves in the silence of observation. Far from the world of objects, of power, of anecdotes and fetishes - -as he himself wrote -- we examine the "nudity" of his abstract works and process the impressions in a workshop with gestural and minimalist colour applications.
