It is easy and cheap to find, buy and possess. Objects are a consistent part of our life. Every day we are actively and passively linked into the consumption cycle: objects are designed and produced to be consumed, the lifetime of their style and functionality becomes shorter and shorter. At the same time there is a trend towards a more responsible attitude to consumption, minimalism and zero waste.

As part of his project RIOT DESIGN Pablo Chiereghin (b. 1977 in Adria, Italy, lives and works in Vienna) will be working on a multimedia presentation in the tresor of the Bank Austria Kunstforum. It centres around everyday commodities such as furniture; the artist does violence to it intentionally, rebuilds it with artistic restoration methods and gives it a new design. The “disowning”, presentation and conceptualisation of this process within an exhibition context form the core of the project.
